Position: Research and Data Manager, 0.80 FTE (30 hours/week)
Location: San Francisco, CA
Salary: DOE, excellent fringe benefits

APIAHF's Research Program is seeking to increase the capacity to conduct more data and research throughout the U.S. and U.S. affiliated jurisdictions, particularly for Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AA&NHPI) populations. APIAHF advocates for greater recognition, inclusion and engagement of AA&NHPIs on policies, programs, and research that are critical to the health and well-being of these diverse and vibrant communities. APIAHF has five departments: Health Through Action, Chronic Disease, HIV, Domestic Violence, and Policy Division. The Research and Data Manager, under the direction of the Senior Research Associate, will be principally responsible for managing data collection, data management, and analysis across projects that focus on AA&NHPI populations. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, development and implementation of research/evaluation, management and analysis of data from APIAHF projects including management/monitoring of data, data collection and entry, database cleaning, and reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Coordinate project team activities and meet regularly with project investigators, consultants, and participating sites;
• Lead and manage data projects, data collection and entry, data merging and cleaning, bivariate/multivariate analysis, qualitative analysis, and data reporting;
• Develop project reports and document progress, including but not limited to data analysis, summarizing findings, and developing charts/tables;
• Conduct Internet and library literature reviews, maintain health literature and databases of articles, data, and resources;
• Conduct research presentations at meetings and conferences;
• Lead in research proposal development & grant writing;
• Provide technical assistance and training in areas of data collection, research and evaluation to internal and external partners;
• Convene in-person and web-based meetings, workshops, and trainings;
• Supervise research assistants and interns;
• Attend and assist with all agency meetings, events, and functions as required;
• Travel for work-related meetings and events as necessary;
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
• Graduate degree in health related field or equivalent experience in health, behavioral science or related fields;
• Five years of community health research experience including three years experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis as well as program evaluation skills;
• Experience in study design, implementation, data analysis; and dissemination of community health evaluations and interventions;
• Experience in intermediate statistical data analysis using SPSS or SAS;
• Demonstrated proficiency with Windows-based computer programs, including work processing, database management, email, and online research;
• Demonstrated ability to interact with diverse populations, community-based organizations and community advisory boards;
• Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills;
• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and organizational skills;
• Strong initiative, creativity and motivation, including ability to work under pressure with deadlines;
• Demonstrated experience working effectively in team environment.

Desired Qualifications:
• Doctoral Degree in biostatistics, epidemiology or related fields;
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of AA&NHPI community health issues preferred;
• Supervision experience;
• Bilingual/Biliterate in an Asian or Pacific Islander language preferred.

Founded in 1986, APIAHF approaches activities with the philosophy of coalition-building and developing capacity within local AA and NHPI communities. We advocate on health issues of significance to AA and NHPI communities, conduct community-based technical assistance and training, provide health data analysis and information dissemination, and convene regional and national health conferences.
