Please call the Governor and legislative leaders in California to urge them to support revenue increases as part of the budget solution. The proposed budget cuts to vital programs and services would be detrimental to the state's residents especially Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders (AA and NHPI).
There are over 5 million AA and NHPIs in California. Many of whom depend on state programs for assistance. For example, the Cash Assistance Program for Immigrants provides cash assistance to about 10,500 Asian seniors and disabled. Additionally, the Healthy Families program provides health coverage to over 910,000 low-income children, with an estimated 71,000 AA and NHPIs enrolled in the program. The elimination of these programs would drastically affect the AA and NHPI communities in California.
The removal of critical programs will put the health and well-being of California residents at risk. This cannot be the only way to resolve the state's budget crisis. Revenue increasing options need to be included to protect the state's safety net. Thank you for your leadership in supporting revenue increases as part of the budget solution.
Please make a call today to let the Governor and legislative leaders know that revenue increases need to be a part of the budget solution.______________________________________________________________________________
