Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Affairs

email print

The Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (NHPI) population is growing rapidly in the United States.  APIAHF recognizes the complexity and diversity in dealing with the various health and health care needs within the Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander community.  APIAHF established the Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (NHPI) Affairs Program to strengthen the capacity of NHPI organizations, coalitions, and leadership to promote programs and policies geared towards a national health agenda, one that will continue to progress in years to come.

NHPI Affairs seeks to create a network for disseminating and sharing health information, resources and policy issues among the community-based organizations that provide health services to the Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders.  Our objective is to increase visibility for Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders locally, nationally, and in the U.S. Pacific Island Jurisdictions.

The vision of the NHPI Affairs Program is one of an integral telecommunications infrastructure that will allow Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders access to pertinent health information and resources through local community access points and key provider intermediaries.
