POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Program Manager, with a mental health portfolio, is responsible for leading, designing, and overseeing comprehensive mental health programs and initiatives aimed at promoting mental well-being, reducing stigma, and improving access to mental health services across diverse communities. This role involves strategic leadership in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of mental health programs, working closely with community partners, internal teams, and key stakeholders to advance mental health advocacy and ensure the effective delivery of services. The Senior Program Manager, with a mental health portfolio, will also contribute to policy development, capacity-building initiatives, and public education campaigns to support mental health awareness and resources.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Leadership & Strategy
Lead and guide the development, implementation, and evaluation of mental health programs across multiple sectors, ensuring alignment with organizational values and long-term mental health and wellness goals.
Collaborate with senior leadership to refine the organization’s mental health strategy, integrating mental health and wellness principles into policies, practices, and programs.
Design strategies to address mental health stigma within the organization and communities, evaluating programs based on feedback and evolving best practices.
Team & Stakeholder Management
Support a diverse team of program managers, staff, and consultants to ensure alignment with mental health and wellness goals.
Build partnerships with mental health organizations, healthcare providers, and community groups.
Lead training and workshops on mental health awareness, stigma reduction, and best practices.
Program Implementation & Evaluation
Oversee the design and execution of mental health education, outreach initiatives, and campaigns, ensuring effective delivery and alignment with mental health and wellness principles.
Monitor program budgets, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
Regularly evaluate the impact of initiatives, making data-driven recommendations for improvement and ensuring that program goals and performance deliverables are met.
Advocacy, Education, and Community Engagement
Represent the organization in advocacy efforts, public policy work, and public speaking engagements on mental health and wellness.
Develop and distribute educational materials and lead campaigns to raise awareness about mental health stigma, fostering community engagement and dialogue on mental health and wellness.
Contribute to research, publications, and media outreach to amplify the organization's voice in the broader mental health and wellness movement.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Bachelor’s Degree in social work, public health, psychology, or related fields; Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in mental health program management, public health initiatives, or social services, with at least 2 years in a senior leadership or advisory role.
Extensive experience managing large-scale mental health programs, community outreach efforts, or advocacy campaigns.
Proven ability to develop and manage budgets, secure funding, and oversee financial and operational performance of mental health programs.
Proficiency with project management tools, data collection, and evaluation systems related to mental health programs.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
Deep understanding of mental health issues, including common mental health conditions, stigma reduction, and barriers to care.
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, including individuals experiencing mental health challenges, healthcare providers, and policymakers.
Strong leadership, team management, and mentoring skills, with the ability to foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Advanced knowledge of mental health services, public health initiatives, and evidence-based mental health interventions.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to represent the organization externally and advocate for mental health awareness and policy change.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, project management software, and data visualization tools.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in social work, public health, psychology, or a related field.
Direct experience in policy advocacy, public health campaigns, or mental health reform.
Familiarity with mental health systems, insurance structures, and governmental regulations related to mental health care.
Experience working in cross-sector collaborations, including healthcare, education, and community organizations, to address mental health needs.
